Artist Biography
With a history in the world of B-Boys and Hip-Hop and a true collection of
the rarest tunes built up in Soho London, young Dylan Hermelijn aka 2000
and One, being a true B-Boy, was the main dj for Amsterdam's Rap act 'The
Beatmasters'.
Spring 1988 - Groove Records: A visit to influence his entire future!
Armando's 'confusions revenge' pumpin' loud in a Soho record store dazzled
Dylan while hearing this monotone but rather psychedelic sound. "Acid Acid
... Let's Jack The house"... Same night Dylan got invited by Baby Ford to
an 'Acid House Party'. A future in the making, big time for sure!
Dylan's hands itched till he got a small Roland: 'TB 303 Bass line
synthesizer'. In fall 1988 he meets Dutch DJ Daniel Leeflang aka Dano, a
radio jockey obsessed with 'TR 606 drum computer'. Hooking these 2 up led
to dozens of recordings on tape, a first gig (a warehouse party by the
people of 'Lower East Side Recordings'), and the birth of '2000 and One'.
In no time 'Lower East Side' released 2000 and Ones' first Acid House
record. Gates to the record industry opened and Dylan started building a
discography. His style is influenced by two key genres of house music:
'Chicago Acid House & Detroit Techno House'.
His project 'Edge of Motion', together with friend Gertjan Schonewille,
reflects his passion for Acid House. Their 'Set Up 707' on Miss Djax
Imprint Djax Records was a huge underground hit and is a true classic.
Dylans' 2000 and One alias focused on Detroit Techno sounds inspired by
legends as Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson.
Not finding the right record label for his creations was when 2000 and One
and partner in crime Sandy Huner decided to lay the foundation of 100% Pure
Records. 100% Pure released work by the likes of Derrick May, Steve
Rachmad, Orlando Voorn, Jerome, Speedy J, Mark Broom and and. As a
producer Dylan released albums and singles under his monikers Edge of
Motion, 2000 and One, Mindscape and Babies from Gong. A broad-spectrum
electronic musical journey into the world of techno, electro, ambient, and
drum & bass.
2001 to 2003: Dylan takes a sabbatical. By the end of 2003, he was busy
again rebuilding and renewing his old studio with 100% Pure records that
was back already in full force with the 2004 summer hit & Ibiza anthem
'Dillema' (by Shinedoe). A new 2000 and One record followed, 'The return
of ...', a typical Detroit samba groover to make it immediately into the
charts of Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Deetron & Steve Rachmad.
In 2005 he found a new imprint together with Shinedoe called 'Intacto
Records'. The second release on Intacto 'Sunday' (2000 and One), a minimal
Detroit techno tune (Robert Hood style) got licensed to Luciano's mix-cd on
Soma Records (Spring 2006).
During the summer of 2005, 2000 and One released, the classic tune, 'Adonai
Elohim'. The track got picked up by Sven V? and was the Ibiza 2005 anthem,
also featured on 'Sven V? - The Sound of the Sixth Season'.
The releases of Dylan receive full support of the main players with his
latest work on Intacto Records & Styrax Leaves Records (Berlin) featured on
mix cd's by Richie Hawtin, Frank Lorber, Luciano, Tiefschwarz, Booka Shade,
...
2000 and One aka Dylan Hermelijn is performing live and as dj. The live
performance focuses on a groovin' Detroit vibe combined with stompin' old
skool jackin' Chicago style, while behind the decks he explores the
boundaries of German melodic minimal techno flavoured with the Detroit
flow.
