
Artist Biography
Exercise One is actually two: Marco Freivogel and Ingo Gansera, makers of
rolling minimal techno based in Berlin, Germany.
The pair met working at the !K7 label and began the project in a basement
studio in Kreuzberg, which they shared with Luciano, Memo and Jeremy P.
Caulfield. Caulfield was actually the first to encourage them to send out
demos, one of which, 'Roll With You', was released as their first 12". The
pair founded their own record label Lan Muzik in 2005, releasing Donato
Dozzy, Arne Michel and Jacopo Carreras as well as their own music. They've
also begun to focus more on remixes, remixing Sebo and Sweet N Candy for
Mobilee and Dumb-Unit respectively.
Exercise One are also gaining a reputation as a formidable live act with
successful appearances at summer festivals such as Melt!, Fusion and
Bittersweet as well as off-Sonar in Barcelona. While many computer-oriented
artists attempt to recreate studio productions in a live context, Yum on
all counts.Exercise One work the other way around, jamming out music and
then editing the results into tight, focused tracks.
