Jade Elektra Biography

Best known for her underground New York club hits “Bitch You Look Fierce”, “Why Are You Gaggin’?”, “How Do I Look?” and “Trade”, Jade Elektra has released house music versions of songs previously recorded by Ike & Tina Turner (‘Proud Mary’), Lou Reed (‘Walk On The Wild Side’), Gladys Knight (‘If I Were A Woman’) and Billie Holiday (‘Don’t Explain’), among others. Elektra’s alter (male) ego DJ Relentless co-founded “Sunbeam Sundays” at Escuelita which ran from 1998 to 2011 and still holds the record for the longest running tea dance in New York City history. His Relentlessly Cunty compilations originally released on 2nd Level Records are widely considered “the Bible of Bitch Tracks”.
HIV+ for over 25 years, Jade Elektra (real name: Alphonso King Jr) is fully out about his/her HIV status and has proudly worked with several HIV/AIDS organizations in the United States and Canada. Elektra considers “I Was Born This Way/Respect Yourself” and an earlier club track “HIVogue” to be her most political recordings to date.
Alongside genre peers Franklin Fuentes, Kevin Aviance and Harmonica Sunbeam, Jade Elektra/DJ Relentless has been a leading figure within the burgeoning cunty beats/bitch track sub-genre of house music since 1993. Her prolific discography of more than 50 club tracks includes remixes by a plethora of international DJs/producers including: Danny T, Chip Chop, Calvin Roberts, Midnight Society, Erik Elias, Fierce Tease, Josh Riptide, Scott Harris, Vjuan Allure, Joelapussy, Cesar Murillo, and, of course, DJ Relentless.
Together or separately, DJ RELENTLESS and JADE ELEKTRA are a force to be reckoned with!
